Get Educated

Sustainability is being increasingly incorporated into the curriculum in order to better educate students about living sustainable lives. Furman is striving to prepare students to live in an ever greening world.

In addition, starting with the school year 2008-2009, all students will be required to take at least one course addressing "humans and the natural environment" (NE). For a further description, click here (p. 37).

Not a "science person?" No worries. Furman offers courses that deal with sustainability issues in a wide variety of disciplines such as business and political science.

An Environment and Society class takes numerous field trips each semester, this one to the Waste Management building near Spartanburg to learn about their green practices.
